   If it looks too ‘glossy’ and ‘shiny’ looking, it’s pretty certain that it is a fake.  Moldavite has more of a ‘matte’ finish to it.  It is certainly not reflective and glassy.  Those ones are most likely manufactured in a factory, most likely from China where a majority of fake Moldavite comes from.
2. Polished surface/edges
   Real Moldavite tends to have uncut, ‘rough’ feeling/looking surfaces/edges whereas fake Moldavite is quite smooth and polished.
3. Weight
   Real Moldavite is relatively lightweight so if it feels too heavy for its size, it may not be genuine.
4. Colour
   If the green of the Moldavite looks a bit similar to the green colour of a Heineken beer bottle, then it’s most likely glass!  Real Moldavite is more of an olive matte green and doesn’t have the same potent vibrancy to its colour.
5. Price
   Genuine Moldavite is pricey so if its too cheap, it may be too good to be true.  Check the different websites to compare the current market prices and get a ballpark figure in mind before you buy.
6. Seller
   Make sure you buy from reputable sellers who specialise in Crystals and have genuine feedback/reviews.  There are so many pop up Instagram, Ebay or Etsy shops these days that have no retail history and no knowledge about crystals.  Also, don’t get fooled by anyone claiming that their Moldavite is more genuine because they offer ‘authenticity’ certificates.  These certificates mean very little in our industry.  Many genuine sellers just focus on providing a genuine product and don’t need to produce fancy certificates.  The product itself should be proof enough to the informed person.  If you're ever unsure if your product is genuine, please come into our store and we can inspect your piece for you.
